The data analyst title spans everything from Excel reporting to near-data-science, so your resume’s first job is locating you precisely on that spectrum. Your summary and skills section should name your actual toolkit — SQL depth, Python or R, dbt, and which BI tool you ship dashboards in — because recruiters filter on those exact strings. Then make every bullet end in a decision or a dollar: analyses are only as valuable as what changed because of them. “Built churn model that flagged 300 at-risk accounts; retention campaign recovered $1.1M ARR” beats any list of dashboards maintained. Quantify the unglamorous work too — pipeline reliability, metric definitions standardized, hours of manual reporting automated away — since analytics engineering is half the modern job. Name stakeholders you served (finance, growth, operations) so hiring managers can see you translating between data and business language; that translation skill is what interviews probe hardest. Avoid screenshot-heavy portfolios in the resume itself — link out instead — and keep charts off the page entirely; anything conveyed only by a graphic is invisible to an ATS.
