How to write a sales manager resume
Sales resumes are the easiest to write well and the most embarrassing to write badly, because the scoreboard is public: quota and attainment. Every selling role on the page needs its numbers — quota carried, percentage attained, rank on the team, average deal size, cycle length — and every management role needs the team’s: reps managed, team attainment, reps promoted, turnover versus the org average. “Led team to 118% of a $6.2M number, with 7 of 9 reps at or above quota” is the sentence a VP of Sales reads first and remembers. Be specific about motion and market, since searches filter on them: inbound or outbound, SMB or enterprise, new logo or expansion, and the industry you sold into. Name your stack (Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach) in a skills section for the ATS pass. As a manager, show the machine you built, not just the result: hiring bar, ramp time you cut, coaching cadence, pipeline discipline. One strong turnaround story — a territory rebuilt, a rep saved — differentiates more than another attainment stat. Never inflate; sales leaders verify quota claims in references, and the honest number well-framed always survives longer. The executive template here matches the gravitas of a revenue leadership resume.
