How to write a operations manager resume
Operations is the most measurable discipline in business, and your resume should exploit that shamelessly. Every core responsibility maps to a number: throughput, cost per unit, cycle time, error rate, headcount managed, budget owned, turnover reduced. Lead with the scale of what you ran — “Managed daily operations for a 120-employee, $30M distribution site” — because scope is the first thing an operations hire is screened on, then show the delta you created on that scope. Improvements read best as before-and-after pairs: on-time shipping 87% to 98%, overtime down 30%, safety incidents halved. If you have run a P&L, say the size; if you have implemented a methodology (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen), name it and the result, not just the training. People leadership deserves equal weight with process: retention, promotions developed, and cross-training programs are operations outcomes too, and postings increasingly filter for them. Avoid vague ownership language — “oversaw,” “was responsible for” — in favor of verbs that commit you to the result. Keep the resume to two pages and let the most recent role carry the detail. The executive serif template here projects the calm authority the role demands while staying strictly machine-readable.
